The Church of Stop Shopping is a radical performance community based in New York City. They combine music, activism and creative rituals into performances that unfold in theaters, parking lots, fields and sites of contested extraction around the world. The Church of Stop Shopping is an Earth-loving anti-consumerist choir that sings original songs about extinction, climate crisis and migration, led by an Earth-worshipping preacher dressed in a bright pink suit. The Church uses performance events to nurture hyper-local discussions and inspire community resilience.
