We’re Hiring: Seasonal Farm Educator
New Position: White Feather Farm in Saugerties, NY seeks a part-time, seasonal Farm Educator for the 2024 season for newly launched after school program and summer camp.
Department: WFF Programs and Operations
Part Time: non-exempt hourly position
Location: White Feather Farm, Saugerties, New York, with limited remote possible.
Salary & Benefits:
$18 per hour

Employment dates:
Training and Planning: Approximately 10 hours in early April, flexible schedule (paid)
WFF is looking for a candidate who can start in early April and will be available to work 5 hours a week on Thursdays from April to November, plus 35 hours a week for 4 weeks of the summer camp in July. Approximately 10 additional hours in early April will be dedicated to training and planning (flexible schedule with pay)

Program schedule:
After School program: 1:30-5:00 pm Thursday April-June and September-November
Summer Camp: 8:00 am-3:00 pm, 5 days a week, June 2024-July 2024

We are expanding our education team and growing our programs to include a one afternoon a week after-school program in our ‘Little Farm’ Learning Garden for kids ages 7 to 10, as well as growing our summer camp programs.
WFF is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and hardworking self-starter to fill the role of part time Farm Educator. Working closely with the Director of Education and the farm crew, the Farm Educator’s role will be to:
• Co-create and implement our ‘Little Farm’ after-school program content (lesson plans, projects, activities)
• Lead after-school program and assist with summer education programs
• Assist in maintaining the Learning Garden
• Communicate and collaborate with the education team
Qualifications:
• 18yo+ with experience working with and teaching children
• Have a positive, adaptable mindset
• Passionate and knowledgeable about farming, gardening and food systems
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn about farm animals such as chickens, ducks and bees.
• Comfortable working outdoors rain or shine
• Able to lift at least 30 lbs
• Access to dependable transportation to and from the farm
• CPR/first aid training preferred
Reliability, collaboration and effective communication between other farm and program staff of the organization are vital for this job.
